On this occasion, Omar Hariri, President of the Saudi Ports Authority, stated that the launch of the Port Community System (PCS) is a reflection of “Mawani” keenness to use technology to serve the maritime transport system, enhance the operational performance efficiency of the Saudi ports network, facilitate procedures to enhance the logistics services sector, and maritime transport.
He said that this qualitative achievement represents a developmental step that contributes to achieving common economic and social targets, through the establishment of a unified digital platform designed according to the best international standards, to assemble administrative transactions between stakeholders in the public and private sectors under one roof.
The aim of the Port Community System, which was launched on the sidelines of the third edition of the International Technical Conference “LEAP24”, is to automate all operational processes in ports, connect all relevant bodies to facilitate data exchange between government and private sectors, standardize procedures in Saudi ports, as well as improve operational mechanisms between users and service providers in the government sector.
Moreover, the system will contribute to improving the experience of stakeholders and beneficiaries, supporting the targets of the Smart Ports initiative, enhancing operational service efficiency, increasing the competitiveness of the Saudi maritime transport sector, in addition to increasing the productivity of the ports sector, in line with the targets of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) to solidify the Kingdom’s standing as a global logistics hub connecting the three continents, within the Saudi Vision 2030.
The “Leap 24” conference forms an exceptional platform that brings together innovators and investors in the technology field, to enhance the Kingdom’s standing in the technological field, and occupies a prominent position as a pioneering event that attracts global attention.
Mawani launched the Smart Ports initiative during the first quarter of 2022 to enhance its contributions to achieving a flourishing digital economy by accelerating and enabling fifth-generation technologies in the logistics sector, making Saudi ports pioneers in applying modern technologies and strengthening their competitiveness at the regional and international levels in the field of goods trading, and serving importers and exporters.
