Government Agencies in Makkah Activate Ramadan Plans

Makkah, March 12, 2024, SPA — Government agencies in Makkah have begun implementing their programs and plans to ensure that they offer top-notch services and cope with the surge in the number of worshippers performing Umrah and praying at the Grand Mosque during Ramadan.
The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has activated its operational plan for Ramadan season with a view to offering visitors a distinctive experience marked by high standards, exceptional quality and unique services, thus enabling them to perform their rituals and worship in a spiritual atmosphere.
Numerous services are carried out to ensure the operational efficiency and maintenance of the Grand Mosque in Makkah including lighting, ventilation, air conditioning and restrooms. Direct services such as cleaning, Zamzam water distribution, iftar meals, assistance to the elderly and people with disabilities, funeral arrangements, crowd control, and designated prayer areas are also available.
Services also include distribution of copies of the Quran, inquiries support, Itikaf (religious seclusion), religious lessons, and Tawaf services. Visitors can also enjoy knowledge-enriching experiences by visiting libraries, exhibitions, and the kiswa factory for the Holy Kaaba.
Worshipers receive special services in the outer courtyards and inside the Grand Mosque, with sorting points for visitors and Umrah performers established at the entrances for their convenience.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance branch in Makkah has begun implementing plans to receive worshipers in mosques across the region. Additional supporting mosques have been opened, and many mosques are operating 24/7 to accommodate worshipers during Ramadan.
